Last week, I gave a shout-out to Jimmie Johnson’s team for running their annual patriotic paint scheme at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Having done that, it would be ludicrous of me not to point out the 31 teams sporting the “Autism Speaks” puzzle piece logo on their cars and trucks this weekend at Dover.
Autism is a disease that many people do not understand. 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with Autism. And while it can put families on the breaking point, there is hope. Many children diagnosed with Autism have actually outgrown it, and have gone on to do great things. But even still, finding out that your child has been diagnosed with Autism can be devastating.
But Autismspeaks.org is there to help. If your child has been diagnosed with Autism, autismspeaks.org can help you every step of the way, from telling you about the disease, to how to cope with it. And if you want to help Autism Speaks research, and potentially find a cure for Autism, you can go to the site and donate as well.
31 NASCAR teams have volunteered to support this great organization. I can’t applaud each and every one of them enough. Here is a list of those teams and drivers who are supporting Autism Speaks at Dover:
Sprint Cup Series: #07 Mears, #9 Kahne, #13 Papis(Did not qualify), #14 Stewart, #19 Sadler, #26 McMurray, #29 Harvick, #31 Burton, #33 Bowyer, #39 Newman, #43 Sorenson, #44 Allmendinger, #78 Smith, #96 Labonte, #98 Menard
