Did NASCAR Mess Trevor Bayne Over?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

During Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at O’ Reilly Raceway Park, there was plenty of excitement to behold. There was also a bit of controversy. On lap 36, the caution came out when rookie Michael Annett spun and hit the wall in turn 3. What ensued was one of the most controversial incidents we may see all season. Leader Trevor Bayne was approaching turn 1 when the caution came out. The pace car immediately entered the track, forcing a split-second reaction by Bayne to stomp on the brakes to avoid passing the pace car, which is illegal in NASCAR [...]

Hornaday Makes History AT ORP

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ron Hornaday made history on Friday night when he became the first driver ever to win four consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. Hornaday won his fourth consecutive race in 2009 by taking the checkers at the AAA Insurance 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park. He edged out a hard-charging Mike Skinner, Dennis Setzer, and Aric Almirola in a thrilling finish. Hornaday now leads the Truck Series standings by 174 points over Skinner, who passed Matt Crafton in the standings after Crafton’s 16th place effort. Congratulations to Hornaday on his triumph. It isn’t easy winning a single race in one of [...]

Jeremy Mayfield Suspended Again

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 17 Comments

At the descretion of an appeals court, NASCAR has received its wish to have Jeremy Mayfield’s injunction overturned. How the appeals court had the authority to overturn a ruling set by a U.S. District Court judge is beyond me. But, seeing as I do not know much about law, I can offer no further comments at this time. No word as to whether this appeals court is the same one as the court that is used when a NASCAR team appeals a penalty. If so, then the ruling in NASCAR’s favor is anything short of a surprise. No comment was [...]

UAW: Mayfield’s “Big” New Sponsor?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Jeremy Mayfield says he is “80 percent there” on getting a sponsorship deal that he claims is “Going to be big”. What sponsor this is, nobody yet knows. But Mayfield was very descriptive when talking about this “big” new sponsor: “I’m the only one right now that fits their mold. It’s somebody that’s involved in everything that goes on in America, really. They’re going to show the world that they’re going to help the guy that needs help. Trust me, they’re bigger than NASCAR and when they come back in a big way they’re going to show they’re not going to [...]

DeWalt, Kenseth to Split After 2009

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

DeWalt Power Tools has announced that it will not be returning to Roush-Fenway Racing’s #17 Ford, driven by Matt Kenseth. Besides Jeff Gordon and Dupont, Kenseth and DeWalt had the longest active driver/sponsor partnership. DeWalt has sponsored Kenseth since his rookie season of 2000, and was the primary sponsor of Roush Racing’s first ever Winston Cup championship in 2003. Roush-Fenway Racing President Geoff Smith had this to say: “We would like to thank DeWalt for serving as a great partner for the past 10 years. During that time we have seen great success for both their company and marketing program, as well [...]

5 Reasons Why NASCAR May Have Targeted Jeremy Mayfield

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 15 Comments

It has become clear over the past several weeks that Jeremy Mayfield feels NASCAR targeted him, and falsely claimed that he tested positive for methamphetamine. Whether NASCAR actually did, or not, nobody truly knows. All we can do is sit here and speculate until our brains turn into a mushy green goo. So I did. I have compiled a list of 5 reasons why NASCAR may have targeted Mayfield. I cannot say for sure that NASCAR did indeed target Mayfield, but I have come up with a list of possible reasons as to why they may have done so. I [...]

Fans’ Feedback On Steven Wallace

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Usually, every Tuesday here at Stock Car Spin, I put together an article featuring the best comments from the previous week. This week, however, one particular article that I did got so many colorful comments, that it actually owns this week’s Fans’ Opinions column. The article was about Steven Wallace, and if you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out on some good stuff: THE Steven Wallace Article Our first comment of the week comes from Steven( ironic, isn’t it?), who describes Wallace using some very colorful English, but thinks that another driver’s hot-shot kid may give him some competition: I enjoyed [...]

F2 Driver Henry Surtees Killed In Crash

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

18-year old Formula 2 driver Henry Surtees was killed in a lap 9 accident on Sunday during a race in England. For complete details and video, see the link below: Henry Surtees\’ Crash At Stock Car Spin, we usually don’t venture for stories outside of the NASCAR world. But when a fellow athlete is killed, especially a racer, we do try to pay respects for that athlete. In sports, when one of us is affected, we are all affected. Rest in peace, Henry Surtees.

Steven Wallace Makes Kyle Busch Look Mature

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

If you thought that trophy-destroying, victory-bowing, I’ll-wreck-anyone-who-is-ahead-of-me-or-behind-me Kyle Busch was bad, meet Steven Wallace. Wallace, who has been nicknamed “Wrecker” by several bloggers-for obvious reasons-took his renowned immaturity to a new level on Saturday night. While battling for the 10th spot, rookie Scott Lagasse dove to the inside of the slower Wallace going into turn 1. Wallace didn’t give much room, and the result wasn’t pretty. Lagasse, Wallace get together Wallace would wind up backwards and in the wall. After the wreck, Wallace, who has done that exact same thing to about a dozen or so other drivers during his [...]
