Jeremy Mayfield wants to go racing this weekend in Chicago. But he needs money. Since being suspended by NASCAR, Mayfield has had to lay off almost his entire team. He’s being sued by Triad Racing Technologies for $86,000 due to unpaid for parts. And it appears that he is now without a sponsor. Mayfield’s best solution? A fan-based support group. By now, you all have probably heard of the unfortunate occurrence that has taken yet another life from us this week. Steve McNair, an NFL quarterback who was most commonly known for his stint with the Tennessee Titans, which included a trip to Super Bowl XXXIV, and a league MVP award, was found dead in a Nashville Condo yesterday afternoon. NASCAR announced the 25 nominees for its first Hall of Fame class on Thursday. The nominees were selected by a 21-person nominating committee. The nominees will then be voted on by a 50-person voting panel, as well as the fans. The 5 people that receive the highest number of votes will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. However, regardless of which 5 are voted in, one very deserving fan-favorite will not be among the first inductees. Justice has been served. Jeremy Mayfield won his case against NASCAR today, lifting his indefinite suspension. Mayfield has been cleared to race at Daytona. “This is huge for us. This means more to me probably than any race I’ve ever won or anything,” said Mayfield outside the court house after he was granted the right to race at Daytona. It is unlikely Mayfield will be in his own #41 Toyota, as that team was not prepared to run this weekend. For the first time in his career, Kasey Kahne will get behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry. On Friday night, Kahne will be making his much-anticipated Toyota debut in the #10 McDonald’s McCafe’ Toyota for Braun Racing in the Subway Jalapenos 250 Nationwide race at Daytona.
