Through all the hoopla that went on during Sunday’s Nationwide Series race at Montreal, a bit of history was made. But unless you paid close attention, you may not have heard about it.
It was touched on during Sunday’s Napa Auto Parts 200 that Victor Gonzalez Jr. made history by simply making the race.
By qualifying 36th for the race, Gonzalez became the first driver from Puerto Rico ever to make a NASCAR start. Gonzalez kept it clean throughout the event, finishing on the lead lap in 14th place. He was driving the #05 Global Dehumidification Solutions Ford for Day Enterprises.
The car [...]

Guess which athlete is more popular than the President of the United States, a late Pop King, and a famous senator who is being laid to rest on this day. C’mon, guess.
I’ll give you a hint. It’s a NASCAR driver. No, it’s not Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Unless you read the title of this article, you probably guessed wrong. But according to today’s Top 10 searches on Yahoo.com(and it will probably change by this afternoon), Erin Crocker is numero uno on the charts.
That’s twice this week Crocker has been number one at something, a career best.
Earlier this week, she was officially announced as [...]
NASCAR Afraid Of Golf?
Our sport has reached a point of sorrow.
A few years ago, when NASCAR was on a rapid climb towards potentially becoming the most popular sport in America, I never thought I’d see this day. Though perhaps in recent months, I should have seen this coming.
We have all known for a long, long time now that NASCAR is not the exciting sport it once was. Beating and banging has turned into a 4-hour long parade. The bump-and-run has turned into “Second is a good points day”. Even the sparse wrecks aren’t fun to watch.
The fans have been saying it for a few [...]

Happy Birthday Jayski.com!
My favorite NASCAR site on the web turns another year older on this day, August 26, 2009.
Jayski.com has been serving fans with the latest news and rumors now for the last 13 years. It is the single best source on the web for all things NASCAR.
Jayski.com will, no doubt, take pride in its lucky 13th birthday. The Jayski.com car that occasionally appears on the site’s homepage is grazed by Jayski logos, as well as the lucky number 13 on the sides.
Jayski.com, congrats on your 13th birthday. Here’s to at least 113 more!
Happy Birthday Jayski.com!
In case you haven’t heard, Brad Keselowski is going to Penske Championship Racing full-time in 2010, and replacing David Stremme in the #12 Verizon Wireless Dodge. It’s official. It’s officially official. It’s officially officially official.
At least, that’s what one may believe if they simply read the headlines on certain NASCAR websites.
It was reported on Friday that Keselowski and Penske were close to reaching an agreement that would have the JR Motorsports driver racing in the Sprint Cup Series full-time in 2010, for a team not called or affiliated with Hendrick Motorsports.
Note, I used two key words: Reported and close. The [...]
For the second week in a row, a record number of participants came out for Stock Car Spin Freeroll. But despite the fact that 14 people showed up, the top 2 remained the same from last week.
Only this time, it was 2ballsnostrikes(The best name in Freeroll, by the way) taking the 100 tokens in a photo finish at Bristol, defeating Drphilth, who took home the 25 tokens for finishing second, by a mere 3 points. Hopper got it handed to him for the second week in a row(Thank you Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick).

This week’s “Day After” Discussion takes place two days after the running of the Sharpie 500. So, technically it isn’t a “Day After” discussion. But is reading the “Day After” Discussion really something you want to do on a day meant for honoring God?
Probably not. Sunday is God’s day. It’s more appropriate to read the Discussion on a Monday. It’s also much more fun to read it and comment on it during your first day back at work, especially when your boss isn’t looking. At least, that’s what I would assume.
So that brings me to this week’s “Two Days After” Discussion. And believe [...]
Enjoy tonight’s running of the Sharpie 500. It will be the last one you ever see.
At least with that name, anyway.
Irwin Industrial Tools, sponsor of Jamie McMurray’s #26 car, will be taking over as the title sponsor of the race. And though the race will still be 500 laps, the name of the race will be unique. The Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol will be one of only two Sprint Cup Series points races not to hold a number in its title, the other being the annual road course race at Watkins Glen.
Sharpie has been the title sponsor of the [...]
Brian Vickers has won a lot of things this year. In 2009 he has won 6 Sprint Cup Series Pole awards, 1 Nationwide Series Pole award, and last week’s Carfax 400 at Michigan.
And if there’s an award for “Quote of the Year”, Vickers will likely win that too.
It seems as if, every year, a certain driver gives one really good quote, and everybody remembers it. I can even remember back to 2004, when Sterling Marlin called out Greg Biffle after getting wrecked out at Watkins Glen.
Marlin’s quote:
“I got run over by a bug-eyed dummy, I guess.”
It wasn’t so much what he [...]
