The “Day After” Discussion: Watkins Glen
Alright fans, we saw another great race yesterday at Watkins Glen. Again, the race was postponed until Monday, which means that our “Day After” Discussion comes on a Tuesday for the second week in a row. A few things to talk about: Were you satisfied with the outcome? After two consecutive finishes outside the top 10, is Jimmie Johnson and crew still “All that and a bag of chips”? Did Marcos Ambrose lose because of poor strategy, or was Tony Stewart just better? Should Kasey Kahne be reprimanded for causing a 3-car crash? Did blame for the accident fall solely [...]
Time For Jeff Gordon To Hang It Up
This is not an anti-Jeff Gordon article. I am not one of those people that wants Jeff Gordon to go away because he is good. I do not want to see Jeff Gordon retire. But I believe that, for his sake, he should hang it up at the conclusion of this season. Following a violent crash during Monday’s race at Watkins Glen, Gordon appeared to be in perhaps the worst shape I have ever seen him in. The crash took a toll on his back, which has bothered him since last season. And you could hear it in his words during [...]
Marcos Ambrose was victorious in Saturday’s Nationwide race at Watkins Glen. But winning the Zippo 200 wasn’t the most popular thing he did that day. The winning move he made on Kyle Busch was. With 17 laps remaining in the rare road-course event, Ambrose, then running 2nd to series points leader Kyle Busch, attempted to make a daring pass for the lead on the entrance of the inner-loop. The Tasmanian driver, who had been faster than Busch during the laps leading up to “The Pass”, shot to the right side of Busch’s car just as the two were about to make the [...]
What Should Be Done With The “Lucky Dog” Rule?
Over the past week, a lot of complaints have been heard regarding the Lucky Dog rule. Sparked by Jimmie Johnson taking advantage of 4 free passes on Monday at Pocono, the fans have come out in full force stating that the rule needs tweaking. Everything from, “Drivers should only be allowed one free pass per race,” to, “Abolish it altogether,” the desire for change has been heard. So now I ask you, the readers, what should be done with the Lucky Dog rule? Should it be left as is? The rule has been in place for 6 years. We’ve seen [...]

Ladies and gentlemen, the competition may be tightening up in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Kyle Busch told media members at Dover on Tuesday night that he plans on cutting back on his Nationwide schedule in 2010, saying he hopes the team can get his schedule down to as little as 22 races. Though Busch would not come out with a specific reason as to why he plans on cutting back, a few hints were given. He mentioned that maybe racing in the Nationwide Series has “taken a little bit away from the Cup effort.” He also said that he only wanted to race companion [...]

Will [...]
