Jeremy Mayfield: He’s back!

Posted by: Ben Montedonico

Jeremy Mayfield is back.

No, not on the track. He’s back in the news.

Since it was announced that the NASCAR vs. Jeremy Mayfield court case won’t be going to trial until next year, little has been heard from Jeremy. And I’ll be honest, NASCAR life was so boring. I had writer’s block for weeks. I mean, it’s not like we had an exhilarating race to the Chase to keep an eye on or anything, right?

Ok, so maybe we did. But still, when you go from having something big like the Mayfield saga to talk about every day, and then it suddenly just goes away, it can be a bumpy transition back to “normal” NASCAR life.

But we all got through it alright. Still, when I discovered today that Mayfield’s name was back in the news, I couldn’t help myself. I knew I just had to talk about it.

So, here’s the story. Jeremy Mayfield is suing his stepmother, Lisa Mayfield(The wacko nut-job, remember?) over the wrongful death of his father. Mayfield, Jeremy that is, claims that his father’s death, which occurred two years ago and was ruled a suicide, was “a direct and proximate result of the defendant’s intentional acts”.

According to reports, the damages in Jeremy’s complaint are not specified, but Jeremy is asking for “more than $10,000, the minimum for it to be field in North Carolina Superior Court.”(Scene Daily)

Lisa is also suing Jeremy for “defamation of character”. Neither party has included the police investigation of Jeremy’s father’s death.

You can see the entire rest of the story at Scenedaily.com.

And so, alas, the Jeremy Mayfield saga continues. Hopefully everything turns out alright in the end. Whatever “alright” may be.
