Raise your hand if you’re not a Jimmie Johnson fan. That’s probably a vast majority of you. Now raise your hand if you have heard this phrase at least once this year, whether it be from a 48 fan, or, I don’t know, some major NASCAR website:
“Don’t hate the 48!”
Oh yes, I have seen that phrase at least once a week since the Chase started on my homepage, which just so happens to be a major NASCAR website. Quite frankly, it has gotten old for me, as I’m sure it has for you as well. This is America, and though it is not encouraged that man should hate one another, you are entitled to hate(or, in more politically correct terms, “dislike”) who you want.
Now, it has come to my attention that two drivers are getting flak from a certain group of fans over the taking-out of a certain driver.
And if you ever come across this group of people, I want you to say these words:
“Don’t hate the 77!”
Or, if they are picking on the other driver:
“Don’t hate the 00!”
In all honesty, I will be disappointed if you do not say those words. After all, we haven’t had one moment during this Chase, or even in the past 4 years, where somebody hasn’t been yelling in our faces, “Don’t hate the 48!”
But now, it is the 48 fans who have two drivers to hate. And they likely are hating them right now. If you ever come across any 48 fans who are hating on the 77 or the 00, get in their faces like they’ve been getting in yours. If they complain about it, look ‘em square in the eye and say these words:
“I’ll let you hate the (77 or 00) if you’ll let me hate the 48.”
What can they say? Congratulations, you now have something to play with.
Don’t hate the 77(or 00)!
