Speed, Papis Not Sold on Patrick

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It seems as though most of the NASCAR world is welcoming Danica Patrick with open arms. The Indycar diva is receiving much media hype, as well as support and a few votes of confidence from some of the other drivers. But a pair of converts from other racing series still aren’t sold. Those guys being ex-Formula 1 star, Scott Speed, and the other being former Champ Car driver, Max Papis. In two seperate interviews, the drivers gave their opinions on Patrick. Scott Speed: “She’ll have the same exact [awakening] that Dario Franchitti got and I’m getting. I want to compare everything [...]

The Wing Will be a Thing of the Past

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

NASCAR is doing away with the wing on the CoT. No, this is not a typo. A memo was sent out to crew chiefs on Friday notifying them that there will be a test held at Charlotte(Lowe’s) Motor Speedway on March 23-24 to test the hideous brick, minus the wing, plus a spoiler. Sources say that the spoiler could replace the wing as soon as Martinsville, and that it will certainly replace the wing at some point in the near future. It is great that NASCAR is finally reconsidering the ghastly design of its precious brainchild. The spoiler on the [...]

Cook, Almirola Among Drivers “Filling in the Cracks”

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

In NASCAR, there are two types of teams. There are the big teams, like Roush and Hendrick, that dominate the picture. But they can’t fill the field by themselves. That’s where the second type of teams come in: The small teams. It’s primarily their job to fill out the rest of the field. One might say that these teams “fill in the cracks”. If you’ve never heard that term used in NASCAR before, it’s because I literally just made it up. Every year, you get these small start-up teams with big dreams of going racing full-time at NASCAR’s top level. Last [...]

Video Game NASCAR: Could the Nuff Racing League be on to Something?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Imagine a racing league where you had great side-by-side racing every week. A league that toured around to all sorts of different venues. A league that had drivers with, not only personalities, but diverse personalities. A league where the most spectacular crashes happened, and it was okay, because nobody could possibly get hurt. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? After all, right now you’d probably take a league that had just one of those things. Well, it’s not too good to be true. In fact, it just might be too good not to be true. If you read this blog quite often, [...]

Which NASCAR Driver Will Drive This Beauty?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Check out this beauty of a car! This is the race car of brand-new start-up team, Keyed-up Motorsports. The team has no driver, no sponsor, and evidently, no graphic artist. But they do have two very important things. The first is a crew chief. Doug Richart, former crew chief for Greg Biffle and Brian Vickers, joined up with the newly-formed team just last week. The second is perhaps the most important: Determination. Sponsor or not, this team will be going to Daytona, as well as the four following races. What happens after that, of course, will be determined by [...]

Mayfield Saga of ’09 May Bring Drug Policy Changes in ’10

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

As the Mayfield v. NASCAR case continues on into the new decade, new drug testing policy changes may be on the way. A statement from NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston regarding possible changes: “Any of those changes, if we have any, we’ll announce those as the new season begins. This is the part of the season where we’re finalizing our [policies]. & We will always update policies and procedures any time there is an opportunity to improve them. I don’t think you’re going to see anything radical.” I sure hope we see something. Need I remind you how the current policy [...]

Speedway Presidents “Gamble” on Texas-Alabama National Championship Game

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Bet on it. Millions of people from all over the world have at least some kind of a wager riding on Thursday’s BCS National Championship Game between the Texas Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Add to that list Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage, and Talladega Superspeedway president Rick Humphrey. The two multi-millionaires have placed their bets. However, the wager between the two is less than impressive. The loser has to display the winning track’s flag at their speedway for the weekend, and they have to sport a golf shirt and hat of the winning team as they hang it [...]

A Different Perspective on Double-File Restarts

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s seems often times that NASCAR is criticized for not listening to the fans. It happened when NASCAR took races away from North Wilkesboro, The Rock, and Darlington. It happened when NASCAR introduced the new car. It happened after the 2008 Indy Tire Debacle. And it seems as though it now happens just about every week. I’m not saying it’s wrong that the fans think this way. Heck, I’ve preached that very thing on here ever since this blog started last May. But often overlooked is the fact that, one time, back in June 2009, NASCAR did listen to the fans. And [...]

Kvapil, Conway May Sneak Up on Competition in 2010

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Somewhere, deep in the heart of NASCAR Country, in an undisclosed location, a new NASCAR superteam is being assembled. Nobody knows about it.  Nobody is paying attention. And this new team is getting ready to sneak up on the competition in 2010. Alright, so it’s not exactly like that. There is no superteam being assembled, and it’s not like nobody is paying attention. But there is a small team of competitive drivers that may sneak up on the competition in 2010 that not many people are paying attention to. Independent team Front Row Motorsports, who finished 35th in the 2009 [...]
