NASCAR is Losing its Early-Season Thrill
Three weeks ago, millions of race fans were waiting with baited breath in giddy anticipation for the start of the 2010 NASCAR season. It was going to be the best year ever. The reins had been loosened. The drivers were set and ready to go racing. It was a new season; a new decade. It was going to be awesome. From the time D.W. said the words “Boogity! Boogity! Boogity!”, until Jamie McMurray was standing in Daytona’s Victory Lane, fans couldn’t sit down. It was the best racing we had seen, perhaps in years. The excitement of the decade’s first race couldn’t [...]
When you watch the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, I want you to remember one very important fact: Timothy Peters is still the points leader. Yes, the Trucks have not seen a track since Peters’ dramatic and surprising last-lap pass of Todd Bodine back in Daytona. And since that fateful night, the Red Horse Racing driver has been the series’ points leader. You wouldn’t think just by talking to him though, that he’s a winner in one of NASCAR’s top 3 divisions. I recently had the privilege of meeting Peters out at the track, [...]

Danica Patrick: Good or Bad Role Model?
Fans, I’ve got a little bit of a writer’s block tonight. So all I have for you here is a simple poll. Is Danica Patrick a good role model or a bad role model? Here are the arguments: Good. Danica is showing us how to get places using what has been given to you. Danica is not the most talented driver in NASCAR, but she has used her looks and sexuality to quickly become one of the most popular. She’s used what has been given to her, and that’s something that any parent should expect of their child. Bad. Danica is [...]
Why Dale Earnhardt Jr. Doesn’t Say Much
As NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is known for many things. Some good; some, not so much. Besides his mediocre driving, Earnhardt takes flack from NASCAR fans in one very obvious area: His interviews. Sure, some fans say he’s ”real”. But most say he’s uneducated, or even dumb. I don’t believe that’s true. Even though Earnhardt may sound unintelligent in his on-camera stammering, perhaps not saying much is the smartest thing for Earnhardt to do. It’s been over 5 years since Earnhardt was penalized 25 points by NASCAR for using a word most kids are not allowed to hear, while [...]

5 Athletes Not Like Tiger Woods
It’s easy for us, as human beings, to recognize faults in other people. When those other people are famous and those faults are blatent, it makes it that much easier. On the flip side, it’s hard for us as humans, sometimes, to see the good in other people. Especially those who seem to have it all. In light of the recent Tiger Woods events, I think it is important to highlight some of the athletes in our major sports who really are good people. These athletes are good Christian citizens, family men, and all around good guys. NHL; Jerome Iginla, Calgary Flames: [...]
