Denny Hamlin qualified his #11 Fed-Ex/March of Dimes Toyota in the 26th position for tonight’s race at Phoenix. And the Virginia native may be planning on running the full race after all.
Hamlin’s biggest problem, he said, is the lack of mobility in his knee. As of last night, the doctors were scheduled to take the stitches out of his knee this morning. Hamlin also said that his knee feels worse after he gets out of the car than it does when he’s in the car.
One final note: If Denny Hamlin makes it to lap 100 in tonight’s race, do not expect him to give way to substitute driver Casey Mears. Hamlin believes that if he makes it that far, there’s no reason for him to get out of the car.
