National Examiner Ignites Dale Earnhardt Jr. “Gay” Rumors

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 31 Comments

You can’t believe everything you read. Especially supermarket tabloids. In the latest Tabloid v. Dale Earnhardt Jr. battle, the National Examiner, rival to the National Enquirer, who ran a story back in November entitled “Dale Earnhardt Jr. in a ‘Death Spiral’”, has called out Earnhardt’s sexuality, and has ignited a set of gay rumors about the Hendrick Motorsports driver. The magazine’s argument states that Earnhardt is “35 years old with no girlfriend”, and “never has a woman standing next to him in Victory Lane.”  The magazine also made a reference to Earnhardt’s new candy bar, entitled “Big Mo”, which apparently [...]

What Do You Think About Kahne’s Move To Hendrick?

AUTHOR: | IN: Fan Poll, NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since news broke on Tuesday about Kasey Kahne’s move to Hendrick Motorsports, virtually every NASCAR fan in America has chimed in with an opinion on this subject. The reactions have been quite mixed. Most fans, especially those of Kahne, believe that the 30-year old will now finally be a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, a belief which greatly excites them. On the other side of the coin are the fans, again, especially those of Kahne, who believe that the Richard Petty Motorsports driver has “turned to the dark side”. The majority of these fans are also afraid that Kahne will wind [...]

Kasey Kahne is Going to Hendrick Motorsports

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

It’s all but official. Kasey Kahne, driver of the #9 Budweiser Ford, is going to Hendrick Motorsports. What we know: Kahne, 30, reportedly signed a multi-year contract with the Hendrick organization today, according to just about every major media outlet there is. Kahne is expected to take over the #5 car in 2012 after Mark Martin’s contract is up. Kahne is expected to get behind the wheel of a third Stewart-Haas Chevrolet in 2011. It has not been determined whether or not Budweiser will go with Kahne to HMS. What this means: Kahne will be joining a championship organization, and [...]

Maybe Dale Earnhardt Jr. Should Be Fired

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 121 Comments

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has fired driver Kelly Bires from his #88 JR Motorsports Nationwide team. Bires, 25, had competed in just 5 races for JR Motorsports in 2010, with a best finish of 7th at Auto Club Speedway in February. Bires other finishes were 12th, 14th, 17th, and 42nd. The worst of those came as a result of car problems at Las Vegas, no fault of Bires. Bires had also finished on the lead lap in every race he competed in this season besides Vegas. But apparently that, along with his average finish of [...]

Hot or Not: Phoenix

AUTHOR: | IN: Hot or Not, NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

The boys of NASCAR made a trip to the Diamond in the Desert for the Sprint Cup Series’ first Saturday night race of the decade. So who shined like the Phoenix sun and who got left out in the cold? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Ryan Newman. Newman ran in the top 10 all night. But when the time was right, Ryan’s car looked like the mean combination of a rocket and a tornado. Not: Brian Vickers. Red Bull’s #1 driver has looked pretty decent this year. But when Brian lost a tire in Phoenix, his car wound up looking like [...]

Denny Hamlin Considering Running the Full Race

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Denny Hamlin qualified his #11 Fed-Ex/March of Dimes Toyota in the 26th position for tonight’s race at Phoenix. And the Virginia native may be planning on running the full race after all. Hamlin’s biggest problem, he said, is the lack of mobility in his knee. As of last night, the doctors were scheduled to take the stitches out of his knee this morning. Hamlin also said that his knee feels worse after he gets out of the car than it does when he’s in the car. One final note: If Denny Hamlin makes it to lap 100 in tonight’s race, do [...]

Denny Hamlin Fastest in Phoenix Practice

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

That’s not a typo, folks. Denny Hamlin, injured knee and all, was the fastest driverin the first practice session at Phoenix International Raceway. Hamlin turned a time of 27.437 seconds, which was just over two-tenths of a second faster than 2nd-place Michael McDowell. Hamlin drove a total of 22 laps during the session, before Casey Mears replaced him to get a feel for the car. No word yet on who will qualify the #11 car, but Hamlin does plan to start the race.
