Denny Hamlin Will Start Subway Fresh Fit 600

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

After having a successful surgery on his left knee, Denny Hamlin has made it perfectly clear that he will race in Saturday night’s Subway Fresh Fit 600 at Phoenix International Raceway. How long Hamlin will race remains to be seen, but he has announced that he plans to start the race on Saturday night. From Denny Hamlin’s Twitter page: “[R]egardless of what you may read my plan is to start on [S]aturday night. Beyond that [I] just don’t know.” Hamlin seems to still be in a great deal of pain, as he also posted last night that he, “Would not wish [...]

Politics and NASCAR: It’s Finally Happening

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

For years, we have waited for the day when the worlds of politics and NASCAR would finally collide. We’ve dreaded the day, hoping to keep our sport pure and about friendly competition, and to keep the dirty world of politics out. When rumors swirled two years ago that now-President Barack Obama’s campaign would be sponsoring BAM Racing’s #49 entry at Pocono, we feared that the day might finally be here. Fortunately, those were only rumors. The day was put off. Until now. Texas governor Rick Perry has announced his campaign will be sponsoring Bobby Labonte’s #71 car for the April 18th race [...]

AJ Allmendinger Wins Inaugural Easter Egg Dash 300

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

There was no NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event this weekend. So I decided to host my own race. The race was a 60-foot(about 300 egg-length) egg roll down a hill outside my house. The night before Easter, I painted up 8 eggs to look (somewhat) like NASCAR stock cars. I’m no artist when it comes to painting, so the “cars” were, by no means, a professional job. But they sufficed. Now sure, the low-profile event may seem quirky or even lame, but it was fun as heck to watch and put . I have the video linked below. Pardon me if it’s a [...]

Happy Easter from Stock Car Spin

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

To all of you, have a safe and happy Easter!!! Let us never forget why we celebrate this day. About 2,000 years ago, God sent his one and only Son to die upon a cross for our sins, so that we may live forever in Heaven. It is the single greatest gift in the whole wide world, and far more important than any NASCAR race. Or anything else for that matter. Happy Easter!!!

Grading Ricky Craven’s Booth Debut

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Ricky Craven went into Nashville a rookie all over again. Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race marked the ESPN analyst’s debut in the announcers’ booth, as he joined veteran play-by-play broadcaster Marty Reid and former NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett. So how did Craven do? I’d give him an A. Craven didn’t dazzle, but he didn’t annoy either. The only downfall for the former driver was his lack of enthusiasm in the closing laps, as Reed Sorenson and Kevin Harvick duked it out for the win in an exciting, though not historic, finish. But otherwise, Craven was amazing. His presence wasn’t overwhelming, which [...]

Bye Bye, Catch Can Guy?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

NASCAR may be looking at cutting some more jobs. According to NASCAR Insiders, NASCAR is “seriously considering” introducing a new-style fuel can that would eliminate the need for a catch-can man. The fuel can is already being used in the Camping World Truck Series this year, and NASCAR mandated in that series that teams can only have 6 over-the-wall pit crew members, as opposed to the 7 allowed to Cup and Nationwide teams. That has made the catch-can man a thing of the past. Several points were brought up by the Insiders, including why the change won’t very much improve [...]

Dale Earnhardt Jr. to Hang it Up?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

If I told you a Hendrick Motorsports driver was announcing his retirement, you might think it was either Mark Martin(finally), or Jeff Gordon. In both cases, you’d be wrong. Dale Earnhardt Jr. told sources Thursday morning that he’s planning on “hanging it up” after the 2010 season, due to “lack of performance”. Earnhardt sits 10th in Sprint Cup Series standings after 6 races, but the Mooresville, NC driver only has 2 top 10s, with the rest of his results being mediocre at best. Earnhardt also hasn’t won in almost 2 years, and sadly, he didn’t see that coming to an end [...]
