Chip Ganassi Makes History With McMurray, Franchitti
Congratualtions are in order for one Chip Ganassi. The legendary race team owner became the first man in history to win both the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500 as a car owner in the same year. NASCAR driver Jamie McMurray won the Daytona 500 in February, while IZOD Indycar driver Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Ganassi has been one of the best car owners in auto racing for a very long time, with multiple wins in the Indianapolis 500 and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and as of this year, a Daytona 500 win. This piece of [...]
Hot or Not: Charlotte
Another Memorial Day, another Coca-Cola 600 in the books(those 600 miles never seem to last long enough). So who survived NASCAR’s longest race, and who fell short? We’ve got you covered! Hot: The Busch Brothers. The good news: Kurt and Kyle combined to win 7 NASCAR events in the month of May. The bad news: Tomorrow marks the first day of June. Not: Jimmie Johnson. Who needs AJ Allmendinger? Four-Time found the wall twice all on his own. I guess Lowe’s really doesn’t own the track anymore. Hot: Jamie McMurray. Earnhardt-Ganassi’s new flagship driver has three runner-up finishes in the [...]

Brad Keselowski Wrecks, And The Crowd Goes Wild!
NASCAR may have a new most hated driver. For a few years now, popular belief has said that Kyle Busch is NASCAR’s “bad guy”, and thus, is NASCAR’s most hated driver. But listen to the reaction of the crowd when Brad Keselowski hit the wall in qualifying on Thursday, and tell me that he hasn’t taken Busch’s position: Now compare that Busch who hit it in front of a packed house last Saturday night in the All-Star race: Those two reactions sounded pretty close to the same. But remember that Brad’s crash took place in front of only a few [...]
Focusing On Indy: Who Will Win The 500?
As we approach Memorial Day weekend, it’s time for us to switch our racing focus to “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing”: The Indianapolis 500. It’s one of the few non-NASCAR events we get to really talk about, and today, I want to ask you one question: Who will win the 2010 Indianapolis 500? The favorites: Helio Castroneves: The Penske driver and defending 500 champ is on Pole for Sunday’s event. Will Power: Teammate to Castroneves; already has two Indycar wins this season. Dario Franchitti: Defending series champion; won the 500 in 2007. Ryan Briscoe: Nearly won both the 500 and the [...]
Chris Buescher Just Saved Ford’s Stock Car Reputation
When you think of Ford Racing, you think of guys like Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, or Greg Biffle. You think of guys like Jack Roush, the face of the Ford empire in NASCAR racing. But when the manufacturer needed a bailout(in the form of a win, of course), it took a 17-year old development driver to get it for them. You’ve probably never heard of Chris Buescher, so I’m going to introduce you as best I can. Buescher is a 17-year old development driver for Roush-Fenway Racing. He has 9 ARCA starts, with 4 top 5s and now, 1 win. [...]
Hot or Not: All Star
Saturday night’s All-Star challenge was an all-or-nothing spectacle to behold. And while the action wasn’t quite as hot as Brent Raymer’s truck, it was still very, very hot. So which drivers found checkers, and which ones found wreckers? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Kurt Busch. If nothing else, the Blue Deuce knows how to get around an intermediate track. Oh yeah, the elder Busch also gets to cash a $1 million check. I guess things are going pretty well for Kurt. Not: Juan Pablo Montoya. If it wasn’t for bad luck, Montoya would have no luck at all. A speeding [...]
Brian Vickers Out For The Season
We have seen the last of Brian Vickers in 2010. The Red Bull driver announced today that he will not be back in the #83 Toyota this season. This comes after doctors recommended to him that he stay out of the car as long as he is on blood thinners. Vickers was hospitalized last Wednesday for blood clots. Without a doubt, it stinks that Vickers has to be out for the rest of the season. But we have to look at what’s more important here: Vickers’ health, or his 2010 season? That’s not even a contest. Vickers’ health and well-being is [...]
Paul Menard’s “All-Star” Video
With the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race just two days away, the drivers who are not in the big event are heating up their campaigns in hopes that they get voted in to the big show. Some drivers have pledged to hit Kyle Busch in the face with a pie if they get voted in(I’m looking at you, Scott Speed), while others have created Youtube videos. But some drivers have such kind, um, fans(I guess that’s what you’d call them) that they don’t even have to make a video. Their “fans” make it for them. Like this one, made with love, [...]
Mears to Sub for Vickers in All-Star Race
Brian Vickers will not race in Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star race. Casey Mears will step back into the #83 Red Bull Toyota for Saturday’s race, in favor of Vickers, who was hospitalized last week for chest pains, which turned out to be blood clots. Vickers was released from the hospital last Friday, but will not run on Saturday. Vickers earned the #83 team a guaranteed spot in the All-Star race with his win last August in Michigan, but usually NASCAR does not allow the car to compete in the All-Star race if the winning driver isn’t driving for them. Fortunately [...]
