In honor of the grand opening of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Jimmie Johnson will be running a special decal commemorating one of the HoF inductees at Darlington.
The late Bill France Sr., founder of NASCAR, is going to be honored with a special decal, which will be carried on the deck-lid of Johnson’s #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.
France is the only inductee thus far to be commemorated by a decal. Not even Richard Petty, who owns a four-car team in NASCAR, or Dale Earnhardt, whose son still races in NASCAR, are being commemorated. The grand opening is set for Tuesday, May 11.
Personally, I believe this is a sweet tribute by Johnson. After everything Big Bill’s grandson, NASCAR CEO Brian France, and all of NASCAR has done for him over the past 5 years, commemorating the sport’s founder and the grandfather of NASCAR’s current CEO was the least Jimmie could do.
