We have seen the last of Brian Vickers in 2010.
The Red Bull driver announced today that he will not be back in the #83 Toyota this season. This comes after doctors recommended to him that he stay out of the car as long as he is on blood thinners.
Vickers was hospitalized last Wednesday for blood clots.
Without a doubt, it stinks that Vickers has to be out for the rest of the season. But we have to look at what’s more important here: Vickers’ health, or his 2010 season? That’s not even a contest. Vickers’ health and well-being is far more important than any race, Chase spot, or championship. And as hard as this must be for Brian, he’s doing the right thing.
Casey Mears will continue to drive the #83 until further notice.
