The boys of NASCAR made the trip to the tricky triangle in Long Pond. Who survived and who got caught up in the madness that was Pocono(Yes, I really just used the words “madness” and “Pocono” in the same sentence)? We’ve got you covered!
Hot: Denny Hamlin. Hamlin did just about everything right in Pocono, save for one thing. After winning four races at the place, you’d think he would have figured out how to do a burnout there by now.
Not: Kasey Kahne: I know Kasey has struggled this season. But trying to pass in the grass won’t work. Passing in the trees? I don’t think there’s much I can say about that.
Hot: The Busch Brothers. Neither Kurt nor Kyle won at Pocono, but both of them finished in the top 6. May was good for them, and by the looks of it, June won’t be too bad either.
Not: Jeff Gordon. Gordon got to show off his old-man reflexes at Pocono. Well after the last-lap crash was over, Jeff piled in and ran up underneath Kasey Kahne’s car. I think it’s going to be about time for Kahne to bring some of that youthful exuberance back to Hendrick Motorsports.
Hot: Richard Childress Racing. All of the RCR drivers seem to have things figured out, except Kevin Harvick. His wife wears the driver’s suit in that family.
Not: Jamie McMurray. McMurray’s season has been up-and-down. Ironically, this week it was the UPS car that brought J-Mac back down.
Hot: AJ Allmendinger. It’s about time ‘Dinger got a top 10. AJ has been running exceptionally well lately, especially considering his equipment. In Pocono, racing finally didn’t hate him so much.
Not: Greg Biffle. Biffle needs something to change his luck. Maybe a crew chief change or a paint scheme change will help. Actually, keep the paint scheme. I like it.
Hot: Joey Logano. He didn’t get the finish he deserved, but it was nice to see Joey man up and give Kevin Harvick a piece of his mind. Pocono marked another milestone for young Logano. Our little Joey’s growing up!
Not: Robby Gordon. Robby’s single-car operation has struggled this year, and things didn’t get better when substitute driver Ted Musgrave failed to qualify for Sunday’s race. Hopefully that won’t put Gordon’s operation on the brink of folding.
