Team Red Bull’s Got Talent

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Team Red Bull’s drivers may not be able to drive stock cars very well, but they certainly have talent. First, Scott Speed painted his fingernails blue(the most talented thing I’ve ever seen a race car driver do off the track), and then Red Bull driver Mattias Ekstrom demonstrated his amazing singing skills over his radio after earning the Pole in DTM qualifying at Eurospeedway Lausitz: I think perhaps Team Red Bull needs it’s own reality show. Ekstrom will take over the #83 Toyota for this Sunday’s race at Infineon Raceway in what will be his NASCAR debut. Reed Sorenson will [...]

Casey Mears Gets Canned

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Casey Mears has been fired from Team Red Bull. The man who took over for Brian Vickers was released today after just 4 races driving the #83 Toyota. During that span, Mears had a best finish of 22nd, and wrecked his teammate, Scott Speed, on Sunday at Michigan. This is the fourth major race team to release Mears in the past 5 years. Mears was released from Chip Ganassi Racing at the end of 2006 after 4 years with the team. He was at Hendrick Motorsports for 2 years, before being released and heading over to Richard Childress Racing. That stint [...]

5 Drivers Who Won’t Compete For A Chase Spot

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

With 10 races to go before the Chase cutoff race at Richmond, it’s time to start thinking about the race to the Chase. Who will make the Chase? Who won’t? Right now, we can’t answer those questions. But there are 5 drivers many people feel are Chase material that I believe won’t even be in contention for a Chase spot come Richmond: Kasey Kahne: Kahne is coming off a season-best run at Michigan and showed that he has the power to seriously contend for wins. But there are two things working against him: Kahne sits 21st in the standings, 205 [...]

Hot or Not: Michigan

AUTHOR: | IN: Hot or Not, NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

The boys of NASCAR were in the Irish Hills of Michigan this week. Who found the four-leafed clover and who was outta luck? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Denny Hamlin. His new nickname is “The Dominator”, and with the way he’s run since NASCAR implemented the new spoiler, I’d say it’s a well-earned moniker. Hamlin has won 5 of the 10 races since the new spoiler was brought in. Not: Casey Mears. Mears wrecked his Red Bull teammate, then on the ensuing cycle of pit stops he wrecked David Ragan on pit road. Brian Vickers, where are you? Hot: Ford. It [...]

Does Kyle Busch Suffer From Self-Esteem Problems?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Kyle Busch is notorious for his conceited attitude. It seems that when Busch wins, he takes a bow for the crowd and brags like there’s no tomorrow. But when he loses, he throws temper tantrums and whines for the cameras. So what is the deal with Kyle Busch? Is he just naturally egotistical, or is there more to it than that? After watching Kyle discuss his reasons for losing Saturday’s Truck race at Michigan, I have to believe Busch suffers from self-esteem issues. During the interview, which can be seen here, Busch put himself down on multiple occasions. Busch first exclaimed that [...]

“Chevy” is About to Become a Bad Word

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Don’t tell people you drive a Chevy anymore. Starting today, you officially drive a “Chevrolet”. According to sources, GM officials sent out a memo to all of their staff members stating that they wanted to do away with the “Chevy” nickname in an attempt to promote consistency in its branding. There is even word that there is a “sort of cuss jar” in the hallway of the Chevrolet headquarters that reads “Chevy”. I’m not kidding. While casual use of the word “Chevy” will still be permitted(after all, what can anybody do about people using the improper term of the word ”Chevrolet”? [...]

Do You Wear The Firesuit In Your Family? Buy A T-Shirt!

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

In light of Joey Logano’s now-famous quote following Sunday’s race at Pocono Raceway, you can now buy a t-shirt to benefit charity. Logano said following an incident between he and Kevin Harvick on Sunday that it wasn’t Harvick’s fault, and that “His wife wears the firesuit in that family,” and “tells him what to do.” Two days later, the Harvicks are now selling t-shirts on there website that read, “I wear the firesuit in this family.” At $15 apiece, a portion of the proceeds go to the Kevin Harvick Foundation. Why Saying AJ Allmendinger Caused Pocono Crash Is Ludicrous

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 18 Comments

AJ Allmendinger shouldered the blame of causing a massive crash on the final lap of Sunday’s race at Pocono. Perhaps he did it because he felt pressured. Perhaps he did it because he’s simply a nice guy and truly felt he caused the accident. Either way, AJ should not have taken blame for the crash. The wreck occurred when Kasey Kahne tried to make a pass on Allmendinger. Allmendinger threw a block, and Kahne took his #9 Ford into the grass. When he did so, he lost control of his car, and spun out in front of half the field, [...]
