NASCAR at Watkins Glen LIVE Timing and Scoring
Hey race fans! Time for some road racing today! As always, here’s your live timing and scoring courtesy of Foxsports.com: http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/cup/raceTrax?gameId=20100808013&state=RACE
It’s certainly not the most surprising development of the 2010 NASCAR season, but it may just be the most disappointing. NASCAR is taking another race away from an historic Southern race track. Atlanta Motor Speedway, whose second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series date has been on the chopping block for the past few years, has finally had its yearly schedule trimmed down to one NASCAR visit. The race moves from one track within the Bruton Smith-owned Speedway Motorsports Inc. to another. Kentucky Speedway, who has petitioned for a Sprint Cup date for several years now, has alas earned its much-deserved date. [...]
A horrifying accident involving Elliott Sadler on Sunday at Pocono was the hardest crash ever recorded by NASCAR. During a series of events that started when Jimmie Johnson spun Kurt Busch on the Long Pond straightaway, Elliott Sadler got turned around and spun head-on into an inside wall that juts out at almost a 90-degree angle. The hit was so hard that it ripped the engine right out of Sadler’s car. It was the hardest crash in NASCAR since the sport mandated that a black box be put in each race car to record how many G-forces occur during major [...]
NASCAR’s Hottest Driver Right Now?: Carl Edwards
If you had to guess who NASCAR’s hottest driver is at this very moment, who would you guess? Greg Biffle? Kevin Harvick? Jeff Gordon? Certainly, not Jimmie Johnson? If you guessed anybody other than Carl Edwards, you are mistaken. Since the end of June, a period which spans over four races, Edwards has not finished worse than 7th, and he has accumulated more points than any other driver. Edwards has accumulated 646 points over the last four races; 48 points more than the next driver, Jeff Burton. Burton is the only other driver to finish in the top 10 in [...]
ESPN’s Camera Crew Needs To Improve
Anybody who watched the X-Games this past weekend can sympathize with this. ESPN’s camera crew is typically not very good. Since taking over the reins in NASCAR back in 2007, they have missed the beginning portion of several Nationwide and Sprint Cup crashes. I’ve cut them a lot of slack, mostly by never mentioning them or their errors. But what they missed on Sunday at Pocono was over the line. With just under 40 laps remaining, Jimmie Johnson wrecked Kurt Busch going down the Long Pond straightaway. Busch careened into the outside wall, slid back down into Clint Bowyer, and [...]
Hot or Not: Pocono
The boys of NASCAR made a trip to the Pocono mountains this week. Who conquered the tricky triangle and who had problems? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Greg Biffle. Biff is on a roll, and at Pocono he put together Ford’s first winning effort of the year. It was an emotional victory that comes just days after team owner Jack Roush was hospitalized with injuries after a plane crash. “This one’s for Jack!” Not: Kurt Busch. Jimmie Johnson, with a car, on the Long Pond straightaway. Kurt got wrecked by Jimmie with less than 40 laps to go, and wasn’t happy [...]
