Roush Signs Trevor Bayne
Trevor Bayne has a new ride. The 19-year old was signed today by Roush-Fenway Racing. Bayne will run the #17 Ford for Roush this Saturday in the Nationwide Series race at Kansas. Roush says he intends to run Bayne in every Nationwide event for the remainder of the season, most likely in either the #16 or #17. Roush could also strike a deal with fellow Ford team RAB Racing to have Bayne drive the #09 in the races Roush possibly couldn’t field a car for him. Either way, Trevor has a ride. Bayne Nation rejoice!
NASCAR 2011: The Game Announced!
Ladies and gentlemen of NASCAR Nation, may I have your attention please. NASCAR 2011: The Game has officially been announced today! You have all been asking questions about the game, which will be released in early February, and while I don’t have all the answers just yet(more will come in a soon-to-be-released article right here on SCS), I have the most important ones. Here’s what I’ve gathered from the official press release, as well as this story by ESPN: ~The game will include 2-player split-screen mode. ~Online play will consist of up to 16 players. ~The game will consist of [...]
Driver Speak: Dover
Our boys are back this week as Chris Siebert and Max Gresham sound off on this week’s action. Here’s what our drivers have to say this week: Ben: Alrighty boys, let’s get started! First question: What do you think of Clint Bowyer’s penalty last week? Too much, too little, or just right? Siebert: I think it’s straight messed up. The punishment didn’t fit the crime, because there was no crime. His bumper was smaller than a quarter than it should be. They were really trying to bust him. It really took the wind out of his sails. I hate it [...]
Kenny Wallace Opens Mouth; Inserts Foot
Kenny Wallace is just one of those guys whom you either love or hate. He can be funny, he can be annoying, and sometimes, he can be both at the same time. Very rarely, however, do we ever associate the youngest Wallace brother with the word “rude”. But after taking a few shots at fellow Nationwide Series driver Brian Scott last night, now we can. Without being asked, Wallace gave his thoughts on Scott’s recent release from the newly-bought Braun Racing team, as well as recently-released Trevor Bayne, on his Twitter page: “MY THOUGHTS..Trevor Bayne is a good driver, He [...]
MWR Releases Trevor Bayne
One of NASCAR brightest rising stars is now a free agent. Michael Waltrip Racing has released Trevor Bayne from its development driver program effective immediately. MWR had Bayne signed with the team through 2011, but due to lack of sponsorship, was unable to fulfill its obligation. One of the clauses in Bayne’s contract did state that the contract could be terminated if sponsorship issues arose, which was the case here. Ryan Truex will take over Bayne’s #99 car for this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kansas. Martin Truex Jr. will drive the #00 for MWR, which is usually Ryan’s car. While [...]
Hot or Not: Dover
The boys of NASCAR were in Dover this weekend for Chase race #2. Who tamed the Monster Mile and who was victimized? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Jimmie Johnson. Last week, I asked whether or not Jimmie was still a favorite to win the title. Yeah, I’d have to say he is. Not: Clint Bowyer. What a rough week for Bowyer. First, he got docked 150 points, then he and his deflated crew barely even bothered to show up at Dover. If Clint’s penalty is overturned, he’ll be ninth in the standings 85 points out of the lead. If it [...]

Clint Bowyer Talks About Penalty
Clint Bowyer spoke to the media Friday morning about his excessive and unprecedented penalty following his win last Sunday at Loudon. (Note: Because Youtube did not have the video yet, I could not embed it into this post. But you can see the video here.) Bowyer makes a few interesting points in the video: ~0.060 inches is less than the thickness of a quarter. Even if Bowyer’s car was 0.060 inches out of tolerance, does the competitive edge gained at a flat 1-mile track warrant a 150-point penalty? ~Bowyer’s car was pushed to Victory Lane by a wrecker. It is [...]
NASCAR Pins Clint Bowyer In Early Chase Hole
NASCAR is penalizing New Hampshire winner Clint Bowyer and his team over an alleged “illegal car”. Bowyer is being penalized 150 points, and has lost his crew chief Shane Wilson for the next 6 races. The catch: Bowyer’s car passed post-race inspection following his win. Under NASCAR rules, the sanctioning body has the right to confiscate two cars after each race; one of which belongs to the winner. When Bowyer’s #33 car was taken back to the R&D center for additional testing, it failed a “more thorough” inspection. NASCAR refused to immediately announce what exactly was wrong with the car. Bowyer’s penalty drops [...]
Driver Speak: Loudon
Our boys, Latemodel driver Chris Siebert and Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Max Gresham, are back this week to discuss the major issues in NASCAR following the first Chase race of 2010. Here’s what they had to say in this week’s edition of Driver Speak: Ben: Alrighty boys, first question. After his win on Sunday, is Clint Bowyer a legit title contender? Max: Of course he is; he has the momentum going forward in the Chase. He made a statement this weekend with his win. He is going to be a very tough competitor in this years Chase. Siebert: Oh yes [...]
