Hot or Not: Loudon
The boys of NASCAR began their run for the championship in New Hampshire this week. Who had the magic and who was out of luck? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Clint Bowyer. Forget sleeper, Clint Bowyer has just solidified himself as a top-notch Chase contender. With his win at the Magic Mile, Clint is now second in points, and riding a high wave of momentum. Look out, everybody! Not: Jimmie Johnson. J.J. did not look like a four-time champ in Loudon. He spun once, and had to make a late pit stop thanks to a flat tire. After [...]
Jeremy Mayfield Working On Open-Wheel Deal
Remember a few weeks ago when I mentioned that Jeremy Mayfield in IRL would be a great story? Yeah, that might actually happen. Mayfield sat down the other day for an interview with ESPN’s Dave Newton, and this was mentioned: “Mayfield hasn’t kept up much with what has happened this season. Other than knowing there’s not much drama heading into this weekend barring a miracle twice the one he had, his focus has been on getting his life back in order. He has a few racing deals in the works, one that could put him in a dirt-track car for [...]
Driver Speak: Richmond
Welcome to a new segment on Stock Car Spin called “Driver Speak”. Each week, I ask race car drivers a series of questions about the hot topics in NASCAR. This week’s guests are Latemodel driver Chris Siebert, and Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Max Gresham. Ben: “First off, a lot of people are saying that this year’s Chase is the most “wide-open” we’ve had in a long time. What do you guys think?” Siebert:“I think it’s just because the guys are just so competitive this year and they all want it so much. Every week each driver has a chance [...]

2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Prediction
Carl Edwards may be starting at the bottom of the Chase barrel, but that won’t stop him from winning the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship. At least, that’s my prediction. You may remember that my pick last year, Brian Vickers, didn’t fair so well. But Edwards will be different. Why? Because his team is prepared. In case you weren’t watching, following his runner-up finish in Atlanta, Edwards stated that, while his team doesn’t appear to be in 2008 form, they are more prepared for a title run than they’ve ever been. And it’s showed. Over the last 10 races, Edwards has [...]
Hot or Not: Richmond
The stage is set, and the Chase is upon us following Saturday night’s race at Richmond. Who is in championship form and who has work to do? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Joe Gibbs Racing. As a team, JGR is the best right now. Saturday night at Richmond, they showed that they have two very serious title contenders in Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch, and possibly a 2011 Chase contender in Joey Logano. Placing three cars in the top 4 Saturday night gives this team the wave of momentum they needed going into the Chase. Not: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior [...]

NASCAR 2011: The Game To Be Revealed
An anonymos source has informed Stock Car Spin that an announcement about a new NASCAR video game is expected to be made within the coming days. The source says that the game is being developed by Eutechnyx, and is being published by Activision, the publisher of the famous Rainbow Six and Guitar Hero series. The game, entitled NASCAR 2011: The Game, will be released for the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Sony Playstation 3. This is what Dave Thompson of Eutechnyx had to say on his Twitter page: “We almost have everything ready to roll out so expect to see plenty [...]
Truck Series Driver Jack Smith Arrested, Suspended
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Jack Smith was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR yesterday for violating Section 12-1 of the NASCAR rule book, otherwise known as “actions detrimental to stock car racing”. But this isn’t your average case of Section 12-1 violation. Smith was arrested and charged with three felony counts of “fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance”. Smith reportedly attempted to gain the unnamed substance on July 11, July 14, and July 22. NASCAR was informed of Smith’s arrest on July 23. Smith has a bond appearance on October 12, and if found guilty, it is undetermined how [...]
Kyle Busch Running “Baby Seals” Scheme At Richmond
He’s actually gonna do it. Kyle Busch, the runaway leader in our Least Popular Driver contest, will be running the pretty pink “Baby Seals” paint scheme seen in the beloved Toyota Sponsifier commercial. He’ll run this scheme in the Nationwide race at Richmond on Friday night: Busch will even wear the awesome pink firesuit, as seen in the commercial: Love him or hate him, you have to like the fact that Kyle is being a good sport about all of this and the fact that he is giving the fans something they very badly want to see: Kyle Busch [...]
