Hot or Not: Talladega

AUTHOR: | IN: Hot or Not, NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

The boys of NASCAR were at “Hallodega” for Chase race #7. Who got tricked and who was treated to sweet victory on Halloween Day? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Clint Bowyer. After review, the ruling on the track stands. There was no inconclusive evidence to overturn the call that the #33 was in front of the #29 at the invisible scoring loop. Therefore, Clint Bowyer is the winner! We think… Not: AJ Allmendinger. If you have to crash out of the race, you might as well make it look good. AJ Allmendinger did just that. Drive safe, AJ. And remember [...]

Trevor Bayne Is Going Cup Racing At Texas

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

A few weeks ago, 19-year old Trevor Bayne had just been canned by Michael Waltrip Racing, and his future in NASCAR was in doubt. Would Bayne become the next Danny O’ Quinn? Todd Kleuver? Shane Huffman? Would he be the next promising young star cast from the sport due merely to lack of funding? No, he would not. In fact, just weeks after his release, Trevor Bayne is going racing in NASCAR’s premier division. It was announced on Wednesday that Bayne, now a development driver for Roush Fenway Racing, will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Texas Motor Speedway [...]

Jeff Gordon Names 2011 Sponsor

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Jeff Gordon is teaming up with AARP for the 2011 season. Gordon’s #24 Chevrolet will be sponsored by AARP’s “Drive to End Hunger” in 22 races next season. The agreement is a three-year deal and will work to address the growing issue of hunger problems among Americans over 60 years of age. This is not an act of charity, as the team and Gordon will of course be getting paid by AARP to promote its initiative. However, with Gordon working as the spokesman, millions of NASCAR fans will be expected to help donate to the “Drive to End Hunger”. And [...]

NASCAR Says ‘No Big Deal’ About Jimmie Johnson’s Illegal Part

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

NASCAR turned it’s back on an illegal action by Jimmie Johnson’s #48 team Sunday at Martinsville. Before the race(evidently during pre-race inspection), NASCAR confiscated the drive-shaft cover on the #48 car and asked the team politely to replace it. The team replaced the illegal part, and the day went on as usual. This was the statement given on NASCAR This Week: “NASCAR officials confiscated a drive-shaft cover from Jimmie Johnson’s #48 Lowe’s Chevy before the race. According to a NASCAR source, officials just asked the team to replace a part and it wasn’t a serious matter.” The part in question [...]

Hot or Not: Martinsville

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

The boys of NASCAR were at the short track at Martinsville to kick off the second half of the Chase. Who took home the grandfather clock and whose championship hopes may have run out? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Denny Hamlin. All they do is win! Alright, so it had been a few races since Denny’s win at Richmond, but he picked a fine time to find Victory Lane. With four races left in 2010, Hamlin sits just six points out of the Chase lead. Not: Jeff Gordon. Gordon had a good day going until he messed with Kurt Busch. [...]

Kasey Kahne Released, Now Driving For Red Bull

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

The long-anticipated breakup between Kasey Kahne and Richard Petty Motorsports finally happened Wednesday night. And though it was a mutual decision, RPM is the one that gets to say it dumped Kahne. Kahne, as expected, was not without a ride for long, however. On Thursday morning, Team Red Bull tabbed the 30-year old to drive the team’s #83 Toyota for the rest of the season in an effort to get a head-start on 2011. Aric Almirola will replace Kahne in the #9 this weekend at Martinsville. Some people may be surprised that Kahne didn’t stay to finish out the year [...]

Kasey Kahne Is Turning Into A Crybaby

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

I’ll admit, when Kasey Kahne took over Bill Elliott’s #9 car back in 2004, I was a big fan. I started watching NASCAR in 2001, and immediately became a huge fan of Elliott’s. Looking back, I don’t remember why; I just know that I was. When he left his #9 car after the 2003 season, I decided to give the unheard-of Kahne a chance, and he didn’t disappoint. I was a religious fan of Kahne’s for quite awhile. That is, until this year, when it appeared that his attitude began getting the best of him. I’ve met Kasey in person, [...]

1-on-1 With Eutechnyx’s Gregg Baker

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

With the announcement of NASCAR 2011: The Game coming a few weeks ago, a lot of fans have questions about the much-anticipated NASCAR video game. Fortunately, being a NASCAR blogger as well as a former competitor in an online racing league, I have some connections. Thanks to my friend, Nuff Racing League’s Brandon Butler, I was able to ask Gregg Baker, Community Manager of the game’s developer, Eutechnyx, to answer some burning questions about the game: 1. How many players can play on one console?   “Two players can play at once during offline modes using split screen. This feature [...]

Hot or Not: Charlotte

AUTHOR: | IN: Hot or Not, NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

The boys of NASCAR were on their home turf for Chase race #5. Who felt at home and who felt the wrath of the Beast of the Southeast? We’ve got you covered! Hot: Jamie McMurray. He may not be in the Chase, but J-Mac and his orange dart sure know how to win the big races. Don’t be surprised if he pulls another win out before the season is over. Not: Kasey Kahne. Kahne ran poorly, crashed out, declined an interview, and was replaced by J.J. Yeley. Considering Charlotte is one of his favorite tracks, I don’t think his race [...]
