Mobil 1, the Official Motor Oil of NASCAR, has left one ex-Indycar driver for another.
The company signed a multi-year deal with Tony Stewart on Tuesday, and will be on board Stewart’s #14 Chevrolet as a primary sponsor in 11 races. Mobil 1 will be an associate sponsor on Stewart’s car for the remaining 25 races, as well as the two non-points races.
With the signing of Mobil 1, along with current sponsors Office Depot and Burger King, Stewart now has full sponsorship for the 2011 season. Stewart previously had several races planned in 2011 with potential sponsorship vacancies, with Old Spice announcing its departure from Stewart-Haas Racing back in April.
Mobil 1 had sponsored Sam Hornish Jr. since his rookie year in 2008. Hornish’s future still remains uncertain.
