Jeff Gordon is teaming up with AARP for the 2011 season.
Gordon’s #24 Chevrolet will be sponsored by AARP’s “Drive to End Hunger” in 22 races next season. The agreement is a three-year deal and will work to address the growing issue of hunger problems among Americans over 60 years of age.
This is not an act of charity, as the team and Gordon will of course be getting paid by AARP to promote its initiative. However, with Gordon working as the spokesman, millions of NASCAR fans will be expected to help donate to the “Drive to End Hunger”.
And of course the space on the car is much better used by an initiative such as this one, as opposed to a major corporation just trying to get air time.
Gordon will also be sponsored by long-time sponsors Dupont and PepsiCo in the races he is not sponsored by AARP.
