If you didn’t know the names Max Gresham and Darrell Wallace Jr. before Thursday night, chances are you do now. In an unexpected double-header feature on Speed Thursday night, the Joe Gibbs Racing development drivers put together a pair of outstanding runs at the Richmond International Raceway. First in the K&N East Series race, and then in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown charity race. If you didn’t watch the action Thursday night, here’s what went down. AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne has been hospitalized for the second time this month for lingering symptoms related to an insect bite. Bayne is currently being evaluated and undergoing tests to “get to the bottom of his symptoms.” Roush-Fenway Racing officials have confirmed that the 20-year old Knoxville, TN driver, who currently sits fifth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series points standings, will not participate in either of this weekend’s races at Richmond. Bayne was not scheduled to participate in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race, but was slated to drive tonight in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, as well as [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Hey race fans, hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I know I did. This past weekend was a good time for an off-week in NASCAR; with all the Easter festivities going on around here it’s been busy! So I apologize for not having posted anything on here for a few days. But we’re back at it today! To kick off our next stretch of races, I’d like to start out by taking things down a notch. By which I mean, let’s delve into the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series. These are a pair of series swimming [...]

Eutechnyx Won’t Refund Fans; Will Sponsor Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Race Team

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: 11 Comments

Instead of using its money to refund a slew of unhappy people for what is arguably the most disappointing NASCAR game ever, Eutchnyx, creators of NASCAR 2011: The Game, is choosing to put its money into more advertising. Eutechnyx and NASCAR 2011: The Game are teaming up to sponsor the Dale Earnhardt Jr-owned #7 Chevrolet in this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Nashville. Josh Wise will be the driver. Supposedly, this is a one-race deal, and is a slap in the face to anybody who bought the highly-anticipated and much-hyped NASCAR video game. Several race fanatics who spent the $60 it cost to [...]

Greg Biffle Signs Extension With Roush-Fenway Racing

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

One driver is off the free-agent market. It was announced today that Greg Biffle and Roush-Fenway Racing have agreed to a three-year contact extension. Biffle and sponsor 3M, which also signed a three-year extension with the driver and team, had contacts that were set to expire at the end of the 2011 season. Now both will be with RFR through at least 2014. Biffle and Carl Edwards were the only remaining RFR drivers who were potential free agents after this season. With Biffle’s contract extension, Edwards is the only driver who has yet to re-sign with RFR. Matt Kenseth is [...]

Should NASCAR Display Pit Road Speeds On TV?

AUTHOR: | IN: NASCAR | COMMENTS: None Yet

Saturday night, race fans everywhere got to see something they had never seen before. During Saturday night’s telecast of the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, NASCAR on Fox analyst Larry McReynolds showed to the fans watching at home the often-talked-about but never-before-seen pit road scoring monitors. McReynolds demonstrated how they work. When a car comes onto pit road and passes through a segment, a speed for that car in that particular segment appears on the monitor. If the car is above the 5-mile per hour grace period NASCAR gives for drivers who go over the pit road speed limit, the [...]
