Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne is out for yet another week, which opens the door for another young Roush-Fenway Racing talent. Fresh off his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series victory last Sunday at Iowa, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is set to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in the Wood Brothers’ #21 Ford this Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Trevor Bayne will spend another weekend out of the car this weekend as he continues to recover from a mysterious illness. NASCAR K&N East Series driver Kevin Swindell will take over Bayne’s #16 Ford for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide race at Dover. Bayne’s condition is reportedly getting better, and it sounds like he really wants to get back behind the wheel of the car. Roush Fenway Racing’s decision to sideline Bayne again this weekend is simply a precautionary measure. It’s already been a fun week in NASCAR news. First, with the announcement of Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick’s penalties, and then with the declaration of Jimmie Johnson Day. If you haven’t heard, Busch and Harvick were each fined $25,000 and placed on probation for four races following an incident after the Darlington race Saturday night. The move appears to be an attempt by NASCAR to please everybody, by levying penalties so as to make a point, but not making them harsh so as to stick with the “Boys, have at it” mentality. Good news from the Roush Fenway Racing camp. Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne has been released from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where he had been treated for symptoms of an unknown illness. Bayne was admitted to the Mayo Clinic last Thursday, and spent a week undergoing treatment and tests before being released yesterday. Bayne will not drive this weekend at Darlington, and his immediate future behind the wheel remains uncertain.
