Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne is out for yet another week, which opens the door for another young Roush-Fenway Racing talent.
Fresh off his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series victory last Sunday at Iowa, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is set to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in the Wood Brothers’ #21 Ford this Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Stenhouse is not locked into the race and will have to qualify on time, but judging by his past performance, that will be an easy task for the man who sits third in the Nationwide Series points standings.
Bayne, meanwhile, is set to make his return next weekend at Chicagoland Speedway in the #16 Nationwide Series car. His next Cup start is slated for June 19th at Michigan.
Bayne won in just his second career Cup start, so if Stenhouse is to out-do his teammate, he will have to win on Sunday in NASCAR’s longest race, the Coca-Cola 600. Though that may not be his top priority for Sunday, it would certainly be nice to see.
Can he pull it off?
