Power Rankings: After Week 17 – Daytona

Week 17 Power Rankings 1. Both Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon were involved in the same wreck, to go to the very back, to work with each other and finish 5th & 6th in a lap. 2.  Kurt didn’t have the best finish at Daytona, but there’s no denying how strong he has been as of late. 3.  Much like Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards didn’t have the finish he was hoping for at Daytona, getting spun out by teammate Greg Biffle early, but Edwards has been strong and consistent all year. David Ragan wins the Coke Zero 400; Busch & Gordon rebound; Dale Jr fired up

David Ragan loves it when a plan comes together, it hasn’t always been that way in his NASCAR career, especially not at the Daytona International Speedway. But in Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400, Ragan and his Roush Fenway Racing teammate, Matt Kenseth, agreed to work together the entire race and it paid off nicely – with a one-two finish. It was Ragan’s first victory in 163 Sprint Cup starts. David Ragan was leading earlier this year at the Daytona 500 until a late restart cost him dearly. Joey Logano wins the Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona!

Joey Logano didn’t lead Friday night’s Subway Jalapeno 250 until the final half mile, but that was all the 21-year-old driver of the No. 20 Toyota needed to notch his first victory at Daytona International Speedway. As the action in Turn 4 on the final lap unfolded behind him, Logano surged into the lead and held off a charge from Kyle Busch and Jason Leffler to win his first Nationwide Series race of the season and the ninth of his career. Martin edges Daytona 500 winner Bayne for pole

Mark Martin put up the fastest speed — 182.065 mph – late in the qualifying session and won the pole Friday for Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Martin claimed his 50th career pole in the Sprint Cup Series.  He was followed by Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon and David Ragan to round out the top 5.
