After capturing the Keystone Light Pole at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon, Ron Hornaday knew momentum was on his side.
Hornaday held off Matt Crafton in an eight-lap sprint to the finish for his second straight victory, fourth in the season, and 51st in his career.
High speeds on the 1.5-mile oval and warm track temperatures led to 10 cautions in the 146-lap race, including an early four-truck wreck that brought out the red flag for 10 minutes and 17 seconds.
Hornaday backed up his win at Kentucky Speedway just two weeks ago to match Kyle Busch(Nationwide Series) for second-most victories in a single NASCAR series with 51. Richard Petty holds the all-time mark with 200 Sprint Cup wins.
The win puts the four-time series champion back in contention for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title after points leader Austin Dillon and James Buescher were involved in early crashes.
Austin Dillon now leads the points standings by 5 points over Johnny Sauter, who finished fourth.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes to the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway next Saturday afternoon in the Coca-Cola 250 powered by Fred’s. Coverage will begin at 3:30pm EST with the NCWTS Setup on SPEED.
