For this weekends NASCAR races at Talladega, NASCAR is going to honor IndyCar Series driver Dan Wheldon with a b-post decal on both the Sprint Cup cars, and the Camping World Trucks. Dan Wheldon had this This decal above called the Lionhart logo in which he had on the back of his helmet. The drivers will also have the lionhart logo on the back of their helmets as a way for drivers to honor Dan. This tribute celebrates, and honors Dan Wheldon perfectly. I think its a great tribute to Dan and I wonder how the reception will be [...]

NASCAR took another step toward one of the biggest technological changes in its history on Monday by conducting an all day test of new electronic fuel injection systems at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The EFI systems are scheduled to replace carburetors, long the air-fuel management device in NASCAR, during Daytona Speedweeks in 2012. More tests of the systems are scheduled for Thursday at Talladega Sueprspeedway and October 31st at Martinsville Speedway. NASCAR and team officials expect no problems with the new systems, and NASCAR has stressed repeatedly that the control units for the injectors are virtually tamper-proof in response to questions about [...]
Rest in Peace, Dan Wheldon.
On October 16th, the IndyCar Series lost one of its greats, and a family will now be without a husband, father, son, and friend, as Dan Wheldon has passed away at the age of 33 after a scary crash in the early goings of the Las Vegas Indy 300. The England native was racing to win the $5,000,000 prize. Wheldon won the Indianapolis 500 twice, first in 2005 and then again this past May. He also won the 2005 IndyCar Series championship. Danica Patrick, who was making what could possibily be her last start in the IndyCar Series, said the [...]
NASCAR Issues Statement Regarding Wheldon’s Death
Earlier today, many of us racing fans witnessed the fiery crash that took the life of IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon. Tonight, NASCAR CEO Brian France has issued a statement regarding his death on behalf of the sport. “”NASCAR offers its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Dan Wheldon, his teammates, and the entire IndyCar Series community for their tragic loss today. They will be in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.” I do wonder If and how NASCAR is going to pay tribute to Wheldon? I read that several drivers (Jr, Montoya, etc) knew him. [...]
The Racing World Loses Yet Another…..
This will probably be one of the only times I will ever actually write about a different motorsport than NASCAR, but the racing world has lost yet another brother. Dan Wheldon, an IndyCar driver, was killed as he was involved in a fiery wreck on Lap 12 of the IndyCar World Championships at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Wheldon was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time ago. Just like Dale Earnhardt, Dan Wheldon died doing what he loved. The Stock Car Spin team sends its condolences to the family of Dan Wheldon. Dan Wheldon [...]
Matt Kenseth staked claim on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship with a win in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Kenseth passed Kyle Busch with 25 laps to go and held on in a series of late restarts to win his first race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. The victory was Kenseth’s third of the season. The victory moved Kenseth from fifth in points to third. He now trails points leader Carl Edwards by seven points with five races left in the 2011 season. Five-time Sprint Cup Series champion, Jimmie [...]
After capturing the Keystone Light Pole at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon, Ron Hornaday knew momentum was on his side. Hornaday held off Matt Crafton in an eight-lap sprint to the finish for his second straight victory, fourth in the season, and 51st in his career. High speeds on the 1.5-mile oval and warm track temperatures led to 10 cautions in the 146-lap race, including an early four-truck wreck that brought out the red flag for 10 minutes and 17 seconds. Hornaday backed up his win at Kentucky Speedway just two weeks ago to match Kyle Busch(Nationwide Series) [...]
