Carl Edwards Backflips to Victory in the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage

Carl Edwards sprinted away from Kyle Busch on the final restart and held off his Sprint Cup competitor to win Friday night’s Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Edwards’ right side was badly damaged after hitting the wall 32 laps into the race but that didn’t stop him from steadily moving through the field. Charlotte Motor Speedway was his eighth victory and 24th top-10 finish in 2011. NCWTS: Ron Hornaday wins Keystone Light Pole for Smith’s 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Ron Hornaday, Jr claimed the pole position for Saturday night’s Smith’s 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hornaday, already a three time winner this season and a four-time series champion, qualified the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet Silverado with a lap of 30.672 seconds, 176.056 mph. This was good enough to give Hornaday his first pole of the 2011 season and his 27th in 296 career Truck Series starts. NNS: Paul Menard captures pole for Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage

Paul Menard, driver of the No. 33 Rheem/Menards Chevrolet for Kevin Harvick, captured the pole for Friday night’s Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Dollar General Moves Over to Joe Gibbs Racing

Dollar General is going all in with NASCAR in 2012. While the Goodlesttsville, Tenn. based company already partially sponsors Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Truck effort–and will continue to do so for 10 races in 2012, it was announced on Thursday at Charlotte Motor Speedway that the company will back Joe Gibbs Racing effort for 12 races at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series level with Joey Logano and the No. 20. Tony Stewart wins Coors Light Pole for Bank of America 500

Tony Stewart and the No. 14 Mobil/Office Depot Chevrolet will start on the pole for the 52nd Annual Bank of America 500 from Charlotte Motor Speedway. Carl Edwards Hangs Out with Miami Dolphins; Kicks Field Goal

Jimmie Johnson Appears On This Week’s Cover of Sports Illustrated
