They will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 99 four four Sprint Cup races in the 2012 season. Edwards, who is a fan favorite, finished as runner up in the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup and has accumulated 19 wins during his stellar Cup career. Kellogg has been involved with NASCAR for many years, including serving as a primary sponsor of the No. 99 Ford with Roush Fenway for the past two seasons. “It’s an honor to be involved [...]
Earlier this week two of NASCAR’s Young Guns, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, spread holiday cheer and laughs to the troops and their families at the naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as part of the USO tour. The visit, according to the NASCAR press release, was a way to help boost the morale of the U.S. troops and their families. This was the first USO tour for the drivers, who are avid supporters of the military community. During the visit, Keselowski and Logano signed hundreds of autographs, ate dinner with the troops, and visited with the sailors, coast guardsmen, and their [...]
A Special Thank You Before the Holidays
When I took over the Stock Car Spin Blog, I was just one person. I had the task of renovating and bring the blog back up after several months of the blog being MIA from the Fansided Network. After 2 months, and 5 new writers later, the blog has become a great blog again. I never thought the blog would become as successful as ever before, and it really makes me feel that I did a great job. However, there are several people/organizations for whom I really need to thank for helping make our blog successful. 1.) Zach and Adam [...]
January 21st is going to be an exciting day for everyone in NASCAR, as NASCAR is holding a preview event to get fans excited about the new season. More than 50 drivers from the top-3 sanctioned series will be at this event. 2011 champions Tony Stewart, Rick Stenhouse Jr, and Austin Dillon will be 3 of the many drivers who will appear at the event. When asked about the preview event, Jeff Burton had nothing but great things to say about the event. “I’m really excited about this event coming back because I was sad it went away in the [...]
71 days and counting until the 54th Annual Daytona 500, but Michael Waltrip Racing’s new No. 15 5-hour ENERGY team is ready to hit the track. Earlier this week the team took to Walt Disney Speedway in Lake Buena Vista, Florida for a three day test-session to prepare for the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. When Brian Pattie, Bowyer’s crew chief, scheduled the session he knew it would help with team building more than being a technical test session. NASCAR put testing rules in place years ago to keep drivers and teams from testing at tracks the series races on full time. Bowyer [...]
Richard Petty, or “The King” as he has been nicknamed, is the original master of public relations in NASCAR before drivers had representatives to help keep them in check. Petty didn’t need anyone to tell him to stop and sign autographs or spend some time with the television cameras. He sought out the fans and the media every chance he had. Many NASCAR writers and fans, including myself, are now questioning his move to negotiate with Kurt Busch to drive one of the most famous numbers in NASCAR history. Believe it or not it isn’t the perfect spot for Kurt [...]
Top Five Pieces of Safety Equipment in NASCAR
In the early days of NASCAR, drivers showed up to the track and raced in their normal clothes. After many severe and sometimes fatal accidents, safety improvements were slowly made to prevent future death and serious injuries. Here are the top five safety devices now being used in NASCAR full time: HANS device, roof flaps, fuel cell, firesuits, and roll cages. The HANS Device is in the shape of an U, usually made of carbon-fiber material, and is attached to the helmet by two anchors on the sides. The purpose of this device is to keep the drivers head from [...]

The path we are taking with Todd mirrors what we did with Paul Wolfe who led [...]
Andy Lally: 2011 NASCAR Rookie of the Year
Obtaining a sponsorship for a NASCAR Sprint Cup team is getting harder and harder each year, so it was no surprise when Sunoco announced only one driver would be eligible for the 2011 Rookie of the Year Award. Andy Lally, the 2011 Sunoco Rookie of the Year, refused to apologize. “It was also as horribly frustrating as I knew it would be, and I don’t think I’ve ever had to work so hard in my life to make such tiny gains on something. It made even the smallest achievements incredibly satisfying and I’m so grateful to be given the chance.” [...]
