Notes for Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas

Here are some news and notes to get you prepared for the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas

  • Elliott Sadler Backs out of MWR Deal:  Elliott Sadler agreed to a deal last week with Michael Waltrip Racing, and was going to drive in 5 races in the #55 car.  Reportedly, the deal was broken off.  According to NASCAR.com, Sadler’s Nationwide Series owner Richard Childress nullified the deal since Sadler drivers for him full-time in the Nationwide Series.
  • Drivers Trying to Master EFI:  Drivers like Tony Stewart are continuing to figure out how to master the newly introduced Electronic Fuel Injection system in the Sprint Cup Cars.  With less than 30 laps to go, Tony Stewart had an issue with his #14 Chevy where his car wouldn’t start after making efforts to save fuel. When reporters asked Stewart why this happened, Stewart said quote, “I don’t build these things. You are asking the wrong guy.”.
  • Denny Hamlin’s Phoenix Win Will Bring Season-Long Momentum:  Denny Hamlin’s win last weekend at Phoenix might just be the start of something great for the #11 team.  Hamlin’s motivation to get back into Victory Lane wasn’t exactly work-related.  He spent the off-season in Arizona trying to mentally calm himself.  Once he came back to the track at Daytona, he has been very fast, and consistent.  I feel he will have a great season, and could make a big run at the Championship.  We’ll see though.
