Pocono: ARCA 200

With the Nationwide Series taking a weekend off, it will give us a chance to see the ARCA Series in action Saturday afternoon at the new re-paved race track at Pocono. The race will be broadcast on The Speed Channel delay at 2:30 PM EDT. The race will actually begin at 1:30 PM EDT, with qualifying on Friday at 2:00 PM.

The points standings in the ARCA series has tightened up with Brennan Poole from Woodlands, Texas, leading second and third place Tom Hessert and Chris Buescher by only 10 and 15 points respectfully. Perennial series star Frank Kimmel is in 4th place and trails Poole by 65 points.

Brennan Poole got his first victory of 2012 last Saturday, in his Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet, at the Akona 200 Presented by Federated Car Care, in Elko, Minnesota, and looks to bring that momentum to the newly re-paved Tricky Triangle where he sat on the pole last spring, and qualified more than half of a second faster than front row companion Ty Dillon. Poole led 23 laps last June, but lost out to Tim George Jr. when officials stopped the race because of fog.

This race should be interesting on the new surface, as they lay down some rubber, and provide some race statistics for  Nascar drivers and crew chiefs to ponder before they get underway on Sunday.
