On Wednesday, NASCAR released the details of the 2013 edition of its Acceleration Weekend fan festival-type event. Next year’s festivities are scheduled for Feb. 8-10.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame class of 2013 — Buck Baker, Cotton Owens, Herb Tomas, Rusty Wallace and Leonard Wood — will be inducted in the the Hall in Charlotte on Feb. 8. Then, NASCAR Preview 2013 activities will kick off at 7 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Charlotte Convention Center. That event is expected to include autograph and question-and-answer sessions with several drivers from all three of NASCAR’s national series — Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck — as well as race cars showing off their paint schemes for the upcoming season, giveaways and interactive displays.
Festivities return to the Hall of Fame on Feb. 10, as the newly-inducted Hall of Famers, or representatives in the cases of deceased inductees, will be on hand for the unveiling of their granite markers on Ceremonial Plaza. This will also mark the opening to the public of the new Hall of Fame members’ displays in the Hall.
Tickets for all Acceleration Weekend events go on sale Oct. 9. They’ll be available at the NASCAR Hall of Fame box office or online at nascaracceleration.com. Tickets are available for individual events or as a weekend package and range in prices from $20-$299, depending on specific events and packages.
