NASCAR speeds from delayed Charlotte test

Rain cancelled the first of what was supposed to be two days of testing the Gen-6 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on Thursday, and then Friday’s action was delayed, again, by weather. Testing finally got underway around midday on Friday, and as a result of Thursday’s cancellation and Friday’s delay, available track time was added to the end of Friday, allowing cars to test under the lights on Friday evening.

NASCAR looked to find the parity it was seeking, as only 1.05 seconds separated the top lap time of the fastest of the 33 cars that made laps during the test session and the fastest lap time of the slowest.

Aric Almirola was fastest when testing finally got underway, and Fords claimed the top-four spots on the speed chart at the end of the day. Below, is a rundown of the fastest speeds/lap times for the 33 cars that made laps at Charlotte on Friday:
