According to a release on Thursday, the Budweiser Duel at Daytona races at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway will become night races in 2014. The two duel races help set the starting field for the annual Daytona 500. They have historically been held on Thursday afternoons.

To earn a coveted starting spot in the Daytona 500, the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will have to perform under the lights and in front of a prime-time audience in the Budweiser Duel,” DIS President Joie Chitwood III said.

Next year’s duel races are scheduled for 2014.

“Moving the Budweiser Duel under the lights will add another dimension,” Chitwood said.
