Austin Dillon turned a 29.356-second lap around Charlotte Motor Speedway during NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying on Saturday to claim the pole starting spot for the History 300, scheduled for later in the day on Saturday.
Dillon will be joined on the front row by Kyle Busch, who posted the second-fastest lap in qualifying with a time of 29.377. Brian Vickers will start the Saturday afternoon race from the third spot and will be joined on the second row by Dillon’s Richard Childress Racing teammate, Brian Scott. Parker Kligerman rounded out the top-five in qualifying.
Claiming the sixth through 10th spots on the starting grid were Joey Logano, Sam Hornish Jr., Alex Bowman, Matt Kenseth and series points leader Regan Smith.
Forty-four drivers made qualifying attempts to set the 40-car starting lineup. Drivers failing to made the race include J.J. Yeley, Bryan Silas, Matt Dibenedetto and Tanner Berryhill.
