Statistically speaking: a look at Michigan

facebooktwitterreddit

This weekend, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., the home track for manufacturers Chevrolet and Ford, for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400. Michigan is a track at which Ford team Roush Fenway Racing has dominated with 13 wins at the track. Four of those previous wins came from RFR’s No. 16 of Greg Biffle, including in the most recent race at the track in June and the August race a year ago.

But there’s one active driver with more wins at Michigan than Biffle — Mark Martin. Martin is a former Roush driver, but now, he’s in a Toyota fielded by Michael Waltrip Racing. Martin has five wins at Michigan and will be the No. 55 driver on rotation for this weekend’s event.

Several drivers have two wins apiece at the track, including Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon.
