No. 56 crewman suspended for failed drug test

Eric Maycroft, the front tire changer on the No. 56 Michael Waltrip Racing team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR. Macroft failed a NASCAR-ordered drug test on Aug. 16, and as a result, has been suspended for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy.

In it’s official penalty announcement, NASCAR stated:

“On Aug. 16, Maycroft was found to have violated sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy) of the 2013 NASCAR Rule Book.”
