Chase Elliott gets first truck pole at Bristol


Chase Elliott posted a lap time of 15.328 seconds at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway on Wednesday to claim the pole for the UNOH 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race to be held at the track later Wednesday evening. It’s his first-career pole in the Truck Series, coming in only his fifth attempt. Wednesday night’s race will be his first-career Truck Series start at Bristol.

Elliott will be joined on the front row by Ryan Blaney, who qualified second with a lap time of 15.347 seconds. Ty Dillon qualified third. Timothy Peters and German Quiroga rounded out the top-five in qualifying.

Starting sixth through 10th on Wednesday night will be Matt Crafton, Brad Keselowski, James Buescher, Justin Lofton and Kyle Busch.

Thirty-eight trucks made qualifying attempts with the hopes of claiming one of the 36 spots available. The two drivers failing to make the race were Jennifer Jo Cobb and Mike Harmon.
