On Wednesday NASCAR announced specific details, including the entertainment line-up for the Sprint Cup Series Awards ceremony that is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Dec. 6 at Wynn Las Vegas. Television coverage of the event will begin at 9 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2. Coverage may also be viewed on NASCAR.com, beginning at the same time. Radio coverage will be provided by Motor Racing Network (MRN) at SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, beginning at 8 a.m. ET. There will be a television rebroadcast of the ceremony the following Sunday at noon ET on FOX Sports 1.
Actor/comedian Jay Mohr, who has hosted the event several times, will return to hosting duties for this year’s ceremony.
“It may be just a coincidence, but I hosted the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards in 2006 when Jimmie Johnson won the first of his five-straight titles,” Mohr said. “Now, I’m back again to officially crown him champion for a sixth time. I couldn’t be more thrilled to host this show again and help honor some of the best drivers — and athletes — in the world.”
Entertainment will be provided by rock-and-roll legend John Mellencamp, country superstar Dierks Bentley, and singer/pianist Sara Bareilles.
“The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards are the perfect opportunity to bring together NASCAR’s top drivers and some of the most popular names in Hollywood for a star-powered celebration,” NASCAR Vice President of Entertainment Marketing and Business Development Zane Stoddard said. “Just like in years past, this is a quality line-up filled with a wide range of personalities and musical genres, so there will be something for everyone.”
