NASCAR lifts Ty Norris’ suspension

77108116[1]NASCAR announced on Thursday that Ty Norris, Michael Waltrip Racing Executive Vice President, has been reinstated. Norris was suspended indefinitely from NASCAR competition following the Sept. 7, 2013 Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.

“I appreciate NASCAR’s action today and respect their position,” Ty Norris said upon his reinstatement. “I am focused forward and dedicated to the success of Michael Waltrip Racing and the continued growth of a sport that has been my home for the past 24 years.”

Norris’ suspension was a part of penalties levied by NASCAR on Michael Waltrip Racing for incidents by MWR team members in an attempt to get then-MWR driver Martin Truex Jr. into the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Other penalties included fines and points deductions that took Truex out of the Chase.

Athough the suspension has been lifted, Norris remains on indefinite NASCAR probation.
