Power Rankings California – Fantasy Insider

California will be a welcome sight after last weeks version of the Longest Day.

The long weather delay caused a Tennessee woman to stab her husband for worshipping NASCAR but that is another story.

Going west will be refreshing as it seldom rains in sunny southern California.

This track in Fontana California is a giant D shape oval with many different grooves to race on and big banking makes speeds eye-popping.

It use to be a 500 mile race back when they first open but now its only 400 miles with one visit a year.

You won’t see very many yellows at this track because of the different grooves which makes this race more often than not a fuel mileage race, Yikes!

Fifteen different drivers have won the pole at California but only Denny Hamlin is going for three straight poles on Sunday.

During the last five years three active drivers have an average starting position  of under 10.0, Kyle Busch has the best average start at 7.8 followed by Joey Logano at 9.2 and Jamie McMurray at 9.4.

Jimmie Johnson is the only driver to win from the pole back in 2008 and Hendrick’s Motor Sports leads all active teams in wins with nine followed by Roush Finway Racing with seven and Stewart Haas Racing has two wins.

In the past five years Chevrolet has won four of the last five races with Toyota winning last year.

J.J. Yeley and Dave Blaney must qualify to make the California race.

Here’s the top ten with the best average at Fontana the last five years:

10 Dale Earnhardt Jr- 0 wins, 2 top 5s and 2 top 10s, avg finish 13.0.

Clint Bowyer- no wins, 1 top 5 and 3 top 10s, avg finish 13.0.
