Statistically speaking: a look at Darlington Raceway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Darlington (S.C.) Raceway this weekend for Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500. It’s the eighth race of the 2014 season, and so far, seven different drivers have won the first seven races to start the year — Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch and Joey Logano.

Not among those seven are the two winningest active drivers at Darlington. Jeff Gordon leads the way among active drivers with seven-career wins at Darlington. Jimmie Johnson is second with three trips to victory lane at the track.
