NASCAR schedule and weather outlook for Richmond International Raceway

This weekend three NASCAR series — Sprint Cup, Nationwide and K&N Pro Series East — will be taking on Richmond (Va.) International Raceway at night. The Nationwide Series will kick off the weekend, from a competitive standpoint, racing on Friday night, followed by the K&N Pro Series East. The Sprint Cup Series will close out the weekend with Saturday’s running of the Toyota Owners 500. Here is the weekend schedule for Richmond (courtesy of


1-2 p.m. ET — Nationwide Series practice
2:30-4:30 p.m. ET — Nationwide Series final practice
4:30-5:30 p.m. ET — K&N Pro Series East practice


9-9:50 a.m. ET — K&N final practice
10 a.m. – noon ET — Sprint Cup Series practice (TV: FOX Sports 1)
1-2 p.m. ET — Sprint Cup final practice (TV: FOX Sports 1)
2:05 p.m. ET — K&N qualifying
3:10 p.m. ET — Nationwide Series qualifying (TV: ESPN2)
5:10 p.m. ET — Sprint Cup qualifying (TV: FOX Sports 1)
7 p.m. ET — ToyotaCare 250 Nationwide Series race (TV: ESPNews, beginning at 6:30 p.m.)
9:40 p.m. ET — K&N Pro Series East race


7 p.m. ET — Toyota Owners 400 Sprint Cup race (TV: FOX, beginning at 6:30 p.m.)

Schedule is subject to change because of weather or the possible longer than expected duration of previously-scheduled events.


According to, there is no chance of rain for the Richmond area on Thursday or Saturday. On Thursday, the temperature is expected to reach 70 before dropping to 47 on Thursday night. The low on Saturday night is expected to dip to 49 after reaching a daytime high of 79.

Rain, however, could possibly come on Friday. As temperatures reach a high of 76 degrees in the afternoon, rain chances will be around 50 percent. The chances of rain will drop to 20 percent Friday night as the temperature drops to 53 degrees.
