Chase score card: leaving Richmond International Raceway

With his win Saturday night at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, Joey Logano joined Kevin Harvick in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series two wins club with his second win of the 2014. Five other drivers each have one win. Two wins apiece guarantee both Logano and Harvick slots in the 16-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup championship post-season, provided they’re in the top-30 in points at the checkered flag of the next race at Richmond in September — the Chase qualifying deadline.

Right now, the top-30 isn’t an issue, especially for Logano. After nine races of the 26 before the Chase, Logano is sixth in the points standings. Harvick, meanwhile, is in 20th spot, 99 points to the good.

The points standings is still led by two winless drivers on the season — Jeff Gordon in first and Matt Kenseth in second. Five of this season’s race-winning drivers are in the top-10 of the standings, with Kurt Busch and Harvick the only other two who aren’t. Busch is 25th in points after nine races, 64 points ahead of David Ragan, the 31st-place driver in the standings.

Here is how the top-10 drivers in the standings, as well as the race winners stack up, points-wise, after nine races (* = one-race winners, ** = two-race winners):

1. Jeff Gordon
2. Matt Kenseth, -5
3. Carl Edwards*, -28
4. Kyle Busch*, -31
5. Dale Earnhardt Jr.*, -32
6. Joey Logano**, -49
7. Brad Keselowski*, -54
8. Jimmie Johnson, -59
9. Ryan Newman, -69
10. Brian Vickers, -85
10. Greg Biffle, -85

20. Kevin Harvick**, -121
25. Kurt Busch*, -156
