Power Rankings Talledega - Fantasy Insider

Richmond didn’t disappoint one bit last week as “four the win” has got to be this year’s best race of the year.

Now we head to Talledega Superspeedway for a wild card race that will keep you on the edge of your seat for most of the race, where “The Big One” looms around every turn.

Even though this is a wild card race, there are some drivers that have some consistency at Dega.

Both qualifying sessions were rained out last year, but Jeff Gordon has the most poles with two in the past five years at Talledega and three in the past ten years, the best out of all active drivers.

The best average start the past five years goes to Dale Earnhardt Jr at 9.0, followed by Jeff Gordon at 9.6, and Jimmie Johnson rounds out the under 10.0 starters at 9.9.

Chevrolet has the most wins the past five years at Talledega with four wins, followed by Ford with three and Toyota with two wins.

The best average finishers under 10.o are Clint Bowyer at 8.0 and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at 8.5. Stenhouse only has two Talledega races under his belt, but he did back up a second top-ten finish last year in the fall to make this list.

Qualifying will go three rounds on Saturday at 2:50 pm eastern time with all drivers on the track, then the top 24 and the top 12 to settle the pole position.

Qualifying should be great to watch to see what strategy the teams will use on the biggest track in NASCAR.

Here are the power rankings for Talledega:
