As the sun goes down, the lights go on and the sound of THUNDER will be heard this weekend at the Kansas Speedway, NASCAR’s first official Under the Lights weekend racing at Kansas. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series kicks off the racing action Friday night with the green flag at 7:30 pm and the Sprint Cup Series race begins on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
NASCAR Under the Lights promises to be another great race for fans. After watching some drivers look as if they were driving on ice or slipping on a banana peels we are most likely to see a repeat, even though it’s not a restrictor plate race. With that being said I’m certain #34 David Ragan, who was looking for his second win at Talladega, and points leader #24 Jeff Gordon are hoping for a different outcome as they come across the finish line this week.
Native Kansas driver #15 Clint Bowyer is the hometown favorite and would love a win for his fans and MWR. Last year’s winner #4 Kevin Harvick will be doing his best to repeat a win at this track. Team Penske has been strong all season and I am looking for the winner to come from them. However, Hendrick Motor Sports has been hot this season and needs to bounce back from a disappointing weekend at Talladega. And for this race fan it’s a toss up for thunder Under the Lights!
