The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series stay home in Charlotte this weekend for racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with the Camping World Truck Series running the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 on Friday night and some Sprint Cup Series driving running the Sprint Showdown just before the truck race, while others compete in the Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday night. Meanwhile, the Nationwide Series heads to Newton, Iowa, for Sunday’s running of the Get to Know Newton 250. Here’s a complete schedule of events (courtesy of NASCAR.com):

In Concord, N.C., home of Charlotte Motor Speedway, weather may have a say in whether or not the Truck Series is able to practice, as scheduled, on Thursday. There’s a 100 percent chance of race, specifically heavy thunderstorms expected that day, according to weather.com. The temperature for Thursday should top out at 75 degrees, with a nighttime low of 53 degrees expected.
The forecast looks much better, though, for the Sprint Showdown and the Truck Series race on Friday night, though, as there’s zero percent chance of precipitation. As far as temperatures go, expect a high of 75 degrees and a nighttime low of 47 degrees.
On Saturday in the area of the Charlotte Motor Speedway, there’s a slight 10 percent chance of race for both daytime and nighttime hours. The tempereature is expected to reach 73 degrees, with a low of 48 degrees expected overnight.
As for the weather in Newton, Iowa, home of Iowa Speedway, there’s a 10 percent chance of rain each day Friday through Sunday. Here are the high and low projected temperatures: Friday — 58/38, Saturday — 65/44, Sunday — 69/50.
