Juan Pablo Montoya returns to NASCAR this weekend after walking away last season. When you get the chance to drive for Roger Penske you don’t pass on it nor waste time thinking about it. Montoya’s new teammates Brad Keselowski is fifth in points and Joey Logano is ninth in points and both have wins so far this season. It’s clear Montoya joined a winning team whose owner has a solid reputation on and off the track.
Juan Pablo Montoya hasn’t been sitting by doing nothing; he joined the Penske IndyCar team which was already a strong team. By adding Montoya, Penkse has one powerful group of drivers in the sport.
Montoya has two Cup Series victories in his NASCAR career, the first in 2007 at Sonoma Raceway and in 2010 at Watkins Glen. Driving hard with determination is one of Juan’s strongest character traits.
Now, with Montoya joining the NASCAR Penske team, Roger Penske will have another powerhouse group of drivers. Fords are looking strong and solid this season and this just might be their year to win the Sprint Cup Series. With more than half the racing season prior to the Chase gone, Montoya will need to race hard to live up to the Penske name.
I’m looking forward to seeing Juan Pablo Montoya back on the track this weekend and again July 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
